Where are the kibbles made?

Our kibble for dogs and cats are made in Visán's high-tech plant in Madrid, Spain.

Who creates the recipes and how are they formulated?

Amanova's recipes are exclusively created at Visán by a team of veterinarians and nutritionists with experience in pet nutrition. Each recipe has been carefully studied and tested to offer our four-legged friends the healthiest nutrition.

Do you only use fresh meat in the food?

In our Amanova and Trovetplus ranges we only use 100% fresh meat and fish in our products. We do not use meat meals, meat powders, dried meats or dehydrated meats.

What is the advantage of using fresh meat in feed?

Fresh meat has two fundamental advantages over dried meat. The first is that we can know exactly which ingredient we are using in the preparation of our products. Dried meats or meats in powdered form lose their shape and it is not possible to know with certainty what is being used, as it’s been previously processed. The second advantage is that fresh meat has more nutritional properties than dried meat, simply because it is fresh. When we go to the market we buy fresh products because they are healthier than dried products, and the same is true for pet nutrition.

Why is fresh meat so important?

Fresh meat provides delicious taste, plus plenty of nutrients, vitamins and high-quality protein. Meat meals or dried meats undergo several heating stages during production, which is why their nutritional level is lower compared to fresh meats.

Where do the ingredients come from?

The meats, fish and vegetables come from the best Spanish and European suppliers and farms. Each has been carefully selected as we set high standards for quality and nutrition.

GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism. This is the name given to any organism whose genetic material has been transformed in a way that is outside the natural methods of multiplication or combination. Our ranges are GMO-free and our certification (for example, from the Good Shopping Guide) certify this.

Yes, all our ingredients are natural and have been carefully selected and inspected.

Visán is ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certified as a company dedicated to the development and manufacture of pet food. Our quality control department follows a protocol system from the first moment the ingredients enter our warehouse. Each and every one of our products is subjected to microbiological and nutritional tests by internal and external laboratories certified in Europe. Our aim is to maintain the highest level of quality and safety in all our products. We are also Ethical Shopping certified.

All our processes ensure animal welfare and we do not test on animals. You can find our PETA certification at:

It means that each and every one of our foods has passed all the necessary qualitative processes to meet all nutritional requirements with the consent of veterinary professionals who are experts in nutrition.

Yes, it is totally normal. Our products do not contain artificial colourings. The colour of the kibble is provided by the combination of fresh meat and natural ingredients, so there may be slight variations in colour in each of the preparations, without altering the flavour.

What is the right amount of food for my pet?

The recommended amount of food can be found in the ration tables that appear on the packaging and on the product pages on our website. The amounts are approximate, as they depend on factors such as weight, activity level, age, metabolism, environmental conditions, etc. We recommend mixing 25% of the new product with 75% of the old product for five days, then gradually increasing the amount of the new food to 100% to completely eliminate the old product. A sudden change of food can affect your pet's digestive system, so it is very important to introduce the new food gradually so that the digestive system can adapt.

Is the percentage of meat on the label before or after extrusion?

The percentage that appears on the labelling is after extrusion. When we say that it has 50% fresh meat as the first ingredient, we are considering that the final product has already been dried. Of course, fresh meat is approximately 75% water, so we have to add between 80 and 85 kilos of fresh meat in order to produce 100 kg of Amanova food, i.e. we have to add more meat so that once the food is produced, it actually has the 50% of fresh meat that we state on the label.

What does ‘grain free’ mean?

It means that the products are made without grains or cereals. Our Grain Free varieties do not contain any cereals or grains.

What does ‘low grain’ mean?

It means that the products are made with nutritious grains such as rice or superfoods such as quinoa, which help to release energy slowly and are very beneficial to your pet’s health.

Are all the products hypoallergenic?

Food is considered hypoallergenic if it has a low probability of causing allergies. All products in our ranges that contain a single source of animal protein can be considered hypoallergenic foods.

What is the origin of the oil or fat that is added?

The oils we mainly use are chicken and fish oils. These are free from the proteins that cause allergies, and are subjected to a centrifugation and decantation process to purify them and avoid the presence of any non-fat particles that could cause allergic reactions.

Fish oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which have beneficial properties for your pet, improving their immune system and skin barrier, limiting the penetration of allergens and reducing inflammation.
